The Highland Group places a priority on sustainability practices by ensuring that it spans our entire business process, from our construction practices to our people and everyday actions. In fact, Stewardship of the Environment is instilled as one of our core company values. As a result of these efforts, our clients, our employees, our projects and our communities benefit from the positive impacts of sustainable design and construction.

Proactive Sustainability:
We have challenged all of our Superintendants to obtain the Green Building Professional Designation and we are proud that most all of them have answered the challenge. As a company, we place a strong emphasis on limiting our environmental footprint. Each project we undertake is completed to the Green Energy Key specifications at no additional cost to the owner because we understand that it is our responsibility to provide safer, healthier, eco-friendly structures.

Financial Benefit:
According to the United States Green Building Council, there will be $554 billion in green construction between 2009 and 2013. For many owners, the environmental benefits of a sustainable building also translate into business advantages. Owners of green projects can expect an 8 to 9 percent decrease in operating costs, a 6.6 percent improvement on return on investment and a 7.5 percent increase in building value.

Environmental Benefit:
The economic advantages, while great, are not the most important when constructing Green buildings. The environmental benefits are even greater. The following are a few of these advantages:
